G & W Burger

On a mellow Wednesday evening, me and my little sister went about to hunt for food, and it just struck me that I happen to pass by this humble little burger stall every working day and I finally decided to stop by. By the way, this stall is located right before the Happy Star Home Deco shop in Berakas.

The owner himself was a humble guy and also friendly which makes the experience very pleasant, especially for a first timer to the burger. Little did I know later on, that the G & W can also be found on facebook. The owner then later explained, he does not use any ketchup, chilli sauce or even mayo on his masterpieces, which I somewhat agreed later on due to the fact that sometimes, too much ketchup or chilli or mayo can overpower the real taste of the burger.

As for my first order, I tried the Royale Beef burger. The Royale beef burger is a beef patty (made from minced beef with spices) and then in the core of the patty, is cheese (I'm not sure what cheese but it is intriguing! I am guessing it is Philadelphia!) I am a BIG FAN OF CHEESE too, so I am very sure of my choice! Since they do not use any ketchup or chilli or mayo, I requested for mustard since I am a BIG fan of mustard too and it turned out that the burger complements the mustard afterall!!!

My rating, out of 5, I'd give it a 4, based on the service, the friendliness and the experience, a very good one. You should give this burger a try!I promise you, it won't fail you. Price wise, its not too cheap or too stiff for the pocket :D

P.s : Warning, this burger is NOT for people who adores Ketchup, Chilli Sauce or Mayo. Don't say I didn't warn you.

The Packaging of my burger, it says Royale Beef :D

One bite and you'll be in love!!! I know it doesn't look enticing, but I reckon you try it! Nyamannnnnnnnn berabis!!!!!

Mr. Baker

I've heard of this bakery through ads and food fairs at first, but it didn't occur to me that its products are DELICIOUS!!! Seriously! I was skeptical at first when I reached the shop because the outside of the shop, the building itself was "buruk and kamah", but inside, it was sparkling clean and white and green!!! Below are a few products from them, which are my favourites!!!

From left : Sausage Bun, In The Middle : Cream puff and Mint Lamingtons, on the right : California Cheese

See, I cannot help but salvage this! A soft sponge cake folded and filled with cream cheese and topped with sprinkled caster sugar with grated cheddar cheese! Aaaaaaaaahhh!!! Nyaman!!!

The mint lamington! I just had to sink my teeth into this! I've been craving for it until I realize that I forgot to take a picture! LOL!!! Spongecake sandwiched with cream and then dipped in chocolate sauce and then rolled in dessicated coconut. Nyum!

Buttermilk Chicken

One fateful fine day, me and my friends decided to do a pot-luck since we wanted to try out each other's cooking and one of them happened to bring the buttermilk chicken. I immediately fell in love after eating it, mind you, I wasn't a fan before. And i put my standard to labelling how the buttermilk chicken should taste. To me, the buttermilk chicken should taste a bit creamy and not too sweet and a bit spicy. There's a slight curry-ish taste since it is cooked using curry leaves. The texture of the chicken shouldn't be too soft or too tough to bite for it should be seasoned and fried to a certain point.

So I decided to go hunting for the best buttermilk chicken, up and down, to and fro, to confirm until I've reached my decision. Below are the results, rated out of 5 :

1. Nyonya Restaurant : 4.5, they also give extra buttermilk gravy to go with it in a separate bowl!

2. Usaha Sitty Delima : 4.5, its just the ambiance that doesn't do the mercy but overall, the place is clean and quiet and the portion is quite generous!

3. Harini Restaurant : 4.5, one of my favourite eateries since its the nearest place to my workplace and also gives a generous portion.

So there you go, the best buttermilk chicken in town! :D Do leave me comments here or on the chatbox by the side if you want me to try anything else.

TPH

I had late lunch with my sister today since we got lazy :P Come on, its lazy sunday meh..

Anyhow, we dropped by to our familiar eatery, TPH. For your information, the menu here always manage to make me laugh since all of the items on the menu is very descriptive and literally translated fron Chinese to English.

So today, instead of ordering the usual Kolo Mee, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and ordered the Thai Style Pandan Chicken with Rice and the Homemade Chips (not frozen, as was printed on the menu :P) My order came and I enjoyed my food much and the Homemade Chips was addictive!!! I believe they cut the potatoes julienne and then dipped it lightly into a garlic added batter before frying it.

My verdict on the new addition into the menu that I tried, 4 :D I left being a happer camper, can't complain much :D

The Thai Style Pandan Chicken with Rice

The Homemade Chips
Trust me, looks can be deceiving but the taste is yummy and addictive!

Singgah D'Ayer Mulih

Okay, so the name is very Bruneian ethnic based on the Ayer Mulih ending. Ayer Mulih is a traditional Brunei design of inter-twined branches and leaves, in a circle which has no ending.

Anyhow, back to my review.

This restaurant to my best knowledge, recently opened its doors to the public somewhat back in April this year since I drive past it every working day :P Never did it dawned to me that I'd set foot into this eatery. I know the highlight of this place is Ambuyat. The ambiance is somewhat nice only then there's no ample lighting, I'd say, which didn't manage to impress me at all (afterall, it's Daddy who really wanted to try this place out).

I was pretty ecstatic when I see the Cicah Pidada in the menu (p.s I got excited due to the fact that I watched how it was made on Rampai Pagi). The service is so-so, but the food, oh god! Seriously, failed to impress me, what more my picky father! The food came almost an hour after ordering, which left us really frustrated. And the Cicah Pidada was tasteless! FAIL!!!

Overall, out of 5, I'd rate this place a 1.5. The owner really need to do some homework on how to cook Brunei traditional food and sit down with the senior citizens.

The Menu, photocopied *yawn*

The Ceiling is the only thing that impressed me, they used kain songket.
I wonder is it plainly kain songket that you get elsewhere or the Jong Sarat? If its the Jong Sarat, it must be really expensive to put this place together!

Daging urat tumis, it's spicy and salty but the overall taste, it's plain bland.

The Cicah Pidada, tasteless!

This sayur pakis tumis failed to impress both mom and dad

The ambuyat and the cicah, the ambuyat for your information was runny and it managed to burn my esophagus! The only this that was yummy was the cicah binjai plus tempoyak

The banner by the entrance. I'd think twice before I set foot into this place again.
