Buttermilk Chicken

One fateful fine day, me and my friends decided to do a pot-luck since we wanted to try out each other's cooking and one of them happened to bring the buttermilk chicken. I immediately fell in love after eating it, mind you, I wasn't a fan before. And i put my standard to labelling how the buttermilk chicken should taste. To me, the buttermilk chicken should taste a bit creamy and not too sweet and a bit spicy. There's a slight curry-ish taste since it is cooked using curry leaves. The texture of the chicken shouldn't be too soft or too tough to bite for it should be seasoned and fried to a certain point.

So I decided to go hunting for the best buttermilk chicken, up and down, to and fro, to confirm until I've reached my decision. Below are the results, rated out of 5 :

1. Nyonya Restaurant : 4.5, they also give extra buttermilk gravy to go with it in a separate bowl!

2. Usaha Sitty Delima : 4.5, its just the ambiance that doesn't do the mercy but overall, the place is clean and quiet and the portion is quite generous!

3. Harini Restaurant : 4.5, one of my favourite eateries since its the nearest place to my workplace and also gives a generous portion.

So there you go, the best buttermilk chicken in town! :D Do leave me comments here or on the chatbox by the side if you want me to try anything else.

TPH

I had late lunch with my sister today since we got lazy :P Come on, its lazy sunday meh..

Anyhow, we dropped by to our familiar eatery, TPH. For your information, the menu here always manage to make me laugh since all of the items on the menu is very descriptive and literally translated fron Chinese to English.

So today, instead of ordering the usual Kolo Mee, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and ordered the Thai Style Pandan Chicken with Rice and the Homemade Chips (not frozen, as was printed on the menu :P) My order came and I enjoyed my food much and the Homemade Chips was addictive!!! I believe they cut the potatoes julienne and then dipped it lightly into a garlic added batter before frying it.

My verdict on the new addition into the menu that I tried, 4 :D I left being a happer camper, can't complain much :D

The Homemade Chips
Trust me, looks can be deceiving but the taste is yummy and addictive!

Singgah D'Ayer Mulih

Okay, so the name is very Bruneian ethnic based on the Ayer Mulih ending. Ayer Mulih is a traditional Brunei design of inter-twined branches and leaves, in a circle which has no ending.

Anyhow, back to my review.

This restaurant to my best knowledge, recently opened its doors to the public somewhat back in April this year since I drive past it every working day :P Never did it dawned to me that I'd set foot into this eatery. I know the highlight of this place is Ambuyat. The ambiance is somewhat nice only then there's no ample lighting, I'd say, which didn't manage to impress me at all (afterall, it's Daddy who really wanted to try this place out).

I was pretty ecstatic when I see the Cicah Pidada in the menu (p.s I got excited due to the fact that I watched how it was made on Rampai Pagi). The service is so-so, but the food, oh god! Seriously, failed to impress me, what more my picky father! The food came almost an hour after ordering, which left us really frustrated. And the Cicah Pidada was tasteless! FAIL!!!

Overall, out of 5, I'd rate this place a 1.5. The owner really need to do some homework on how to cook Brunei traditional food and sit down with the senior citizens.

The Menu, photocopied *yawn*

The Ceiling is the only thing that impressed me, they used kain songket.
I wonder is it plainly kain songket that you get elsewhere or the Jong Sarat? If its the Jong Sarat, it must be really expensive to put this place together!

Daging urat tumis, it's spicy and salty but the overall taste, it's plain bland.

The Cicah Pidada, tasteless!

This sayur pakis tumis failed to impress both mom and dad

The ambuyat and the cicah, the ambuyat for your information was runny and it managed to burn my esophagus! The only this that was yummy was the cicah binjai plus tempoyak

The banner by the entrance. I'd think twice before I set foot into this place again.

R.B.C-capades

I was craving for the Kolo Mee Goreng. Last I had it was on my birthday...haha yes, it was that long. And so, I went for lunch. Its yummy, well, to me, I don't know about your palette :D Over all, I'd give it a 7.5. The airport restaurant have totally revamped its menu, so there's still alot to try. *iski* :P

I was behaving rather silly on a hot sunny day, I've no idea why, LOL
There, I had tea!

L'amour was having fried Kuey Teow, also delicious!

This thing makes me wanna pee....LOL

Dosai Adventure

Its been really hot lately, don't you guys agree? Hence, after work, I decided to have a dosai adventure at this eatery which I almost abandoned. I remember they have othe most yummiest masala dishes around, hence, off I go. Hehehe I would reckon you go there to have an eat. It might be a bit far, but the eat, is worth it. But for that particular day, I feel like having the dosai. Pricing wise, its quite affordable, won't burn your pocket :D As you'll see below, its what they call the Roasted Paper Dosai. Extra Crunchy which somehow compliments with the chutneys served. Out of 10, I'd give it a 9. Location : Kampong Tanah Jambu, right before you go off to Bukit Si Banging.

The Roasted Paper Dosai. Huge. And quite cheap!

The chutneys : Red - Chili, White - Coconut, Yello - Dhal

My Favourite Biryani

Yes, this time, I will blog about my favourite Biryani. Its not your typical Southern Indian Biryani, this one's a less violently coloured Biryani, cooked the Northern Indian way. I'm all about spices, and now, I am introducing it to you all :D The place : Lotus Restaurant, located in Serusop, just next to Dee Jay. I always order my Biryani plain, and have it with Chicken 65. Yum!!! I reckon you try this!!! Out of 10, I'd rate it a 9.

The plain biryani

The sifu teaching how to eat the Naan, eat it with Butter Chicken Masala

The Naan, lonely in its basket :P

And this is how I eat my biryani, with chicken 65 :D

I'm hungry now!

Pizza

I was hungry, heck! I'm always hungry :P Anyhow, went for a quick pizza fix at Pizza Hut. The pizza was good, hits the spot, especially when combined with dried chillies, yum! Out of 10, I'd give it a 7 :D

My drink - cafe latte

Hello stranger, you look alone LOL hahaha :P
This is the dried chili that I was raving about

Now what pizza was this, I guess its the Milano or whatever :P
And thats how I eat my pizza with lots of dried chili flakes

My hero for the day, the pizza :P

The tube pasta, wasn't that bad :)

I make cupcakes too!!!

Hahaha, the post pretty much says everything :P Yes, I do make cupcakes upon request :) no fancy-schmancy cupcakes. Mine's just the plain classic, which, once eaten, will touch your soul and leaving you wanting for more :P These are pictures of the cupcakes as was requested by my cousin, Mauriza :D

The cupcakes

This one's filled with butter cream :D

The end product - an array of designed by me cupcakes LOL :P

Secret Recipe-ing

As promised, I owe you people an update :P LOL yes, been secret recipe-ing with my parents and sister. Wasn't much tho. I just like the cakes, but the food, I'd say, so-so. LOL, yes, to my palette, it IS that bad. I'm all about tastes I guess. Even the tartar sauce is bad! Its actually mayonnaise! :S So much to be secretive about! Out of ten, if it wasn't for the cakes, I'd give it a 4. But since I like the cakes, I'd give it a 5.

The Apple Kasturi Juice - verdict - masam but nice if you're into sour stuffs

The Chocolate Banana cake which I would highly recommend you to have :D

This, is also alright. Parts of the chicken cornish only left...LOL
This one's a huge portion, I guess you can finish this by yourself if you're very hungry

The fish and chips - they used dory fish! Tsk...tsk....
and the tartar sauce...erks! Am not happy!!!

Lunching on a Sunday

Me and my eldest sister along with her two gremlins were pretty much undecided and very hungry that I think I can smell my bile juice (hahaha Ira always say that) on where to have lunch, but alas, in the end, we agreed to eating Chicken Rice at Thien Thien Restaurant in Kiulap. Never mind the label but the chicken was supplied by Ideal Multifeed, so I have no problem with that, just as long as the chickens are slaughtered according to the Islamic law, I'm good :D Anyways, this place is my favourite place to have Chicken Rice. From MY point of view, its the best Chicken Rice in all of Brunei. Out of 10, I'd rate it a 9! Just the Chicken Rice ah! LOL!!!

The steamed chicken, steamed to perfection

The rice, just perfect!

This is tea or teh, not Teh 'C'

The chili which I could just talk about all day, seriously yummy with the nasi ayam

This is how I eat my nasi ayam with the chili :D

The Kolo Mee which my brother was bragging about, but then, it was as good as that eatery nearby. The mee itself was wrong. Nothing to brag about!

The curry laksa was good, best eaten with the sambal goreng :D
